Hight Logistics CEO Rudy Diaz to Join Expert Panel on the Future of Trucking at WESCCON 2024

The Pacific Coast Council of Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Associations presents one of the West Coast’s most highly regarded conferences each year in the form of WESCCON. This year’s WESCCON, which will be held from October 17-20 at the Loews Coronado Bay Hotel in San Diego, will focus on a variety of issues critical to customs brokers – including cybersecurity, labor, collaboration in air freight, continuing education and more.

We are very pleased to announce that Hight Logistics/Hight Electric CEO Rudy Diaz will be participating in a panel titled “Trucking – Past, Present and Future” as part of the agenda on Friday, October 18.

The panel will be moderated by Matt Schrap, CEO of the Harbor Trucking Association. Other panelists will include Peter Schneider, President at T.G.S. Logistics Inc. and T.G.S. Transportation Inc.; and Will Mitchell, Executive Vice President of Commercial Operations at Forum Mobility.

The panel will explore ways for the trucking industry to build resilience while navigating challenges like supply and labor shortages, regulatory demands, decarbonization efforts, severe weather impacts, port disruptions, and the lasting effects of the COVID pandemic.

Diaz is uniquely positioned to provide valuable insights on the panel, drawing from his extensive experience managing port challenges as a drayage professional, along with Hight Electric’s recent venture into operating an all-electric truck fleet.

“We all gain valuable lessons from the challenges our industry faces,” Diaz said. “But there’s also a lot to learn from the positive steps we take to move forward. Our experiences have given us insights that I hope will benefit others, especially those attending WESCCON. Joining Peter Schneider and Will Mitchell on stage is a great opportunity to share those insights and support others as they navigate their own challenges.”

The trucking panel is just one of many presentations available to conference attendees throughout the four-day event, with other sessions covering topics like ocean and rail shipping, AI implementation, AD/CVD best practices, export compliance, cybersecurity measures, and more.

The keynote speaker is former Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin McAleenan, who served in that position in 2019.

Hight Logistics is also the sponsor of the conference’s lunchtime networking reception on Friday, October 18. More information about WESCCON is available here.
