The Hight name
Rudy Diaz established Hight Logistics, naming the company in honor of James “Jay” Hight, the teacher whose grace, compassion and high standards left a lasting impression.

The story behind Hight
Our history starts with a teacher’s example and continues through a freight operation built on respect, accountability and the courage to lead.
Why Hight
Rudy chose the Hight name to honor James “Jay” Hight, his ninth-grade English teacher at Virginia Episcopal School. Mr. Hight’s compassion, grace and belief in his students shaped Rudy’s view of leadership. The company carries that example forward in the way we treat customers, partners and one another.

Built on experience
Hight assembled people who knew port freight firsthand and built the business around reliable execution, visibility and customer service.
Expanded control
Secure yard capacity, a large chassis pool, cross-dock services, specialized handling and reefer support expanded what Hight could manage directly.
Electric at scale
Hight invested early in battery-electric Class 8 trucks and the charging, planning and operating discipline needed to make zero-emission drayage work every day.
Today
With 25 electric trucks, more than one million EV miles and over four years of operating experience, Hight continues to pair innovation with accountability.
