Over the road trucking

Over the road trucking from an asset-based carrier

When freight needs to keep moving past the port complex, it moves on the same equipment, the same drivers and the same accountability that brought it off the terminal.

One carrier from the terminal gate to the final mile

Most over the road trucking companies start where the drayage carrier stops, which means a handoff, a second contract and a gap in visibility. Hight is an asset-based carrier across both legs. We pull the container, transload it if that takes cost out of the lane, and run the long haul ourselves.

What we haul

Transloaded freightOcean containers transloaded into 53ft domestic trailers at our Long Beach facility, then run inland.
Dedicated truckingDedicated capacity on recurring lanes where you need the same carrier and predictable service.
ReeferTemperature-controlled long haul, supported by reefer plugs and gensets at the yard.
HazmatBonded, hazmat-qualified OTR trucking with experienced handling.
Overweight and out of gaugePermitted heavy-haul and oversized freight beyond standard trailer limits.
Regional and long haulShort regional runs through to multi-state moves across the Southwest.

What asset-based actually means

An asset-based trucking company owns the equipment and employs the drivers. A broker sells you capacity it does not control, then goes looking for it. Both are legitimate, but only one gives you a single accountable party when a delivery window slips.

Hight owns the trucks, more than 300 chassis and a 6-acre secure yard. Dispatch, drivers, equipment and yard operations sit under one roof, so escalation is a phone call rather than a chain of vendors.

Why run drayage and OTR with one carrier

No handoff gapThe container and the trailer are handled by the same operation, so nothing falls between two vendors.
Transload where it paysWe can decide at the yard whether transloading takes cost out of the lane, instead of committing upfront.
One escalation pathSame dispatch, same contacts, whether the freight is on a chassis or a 53ft trailer.
Cleaner first mileElectric drayage on the port leg where it fits, diesel long haul beyond it.
